MV Dhamma Fellowship kicked start the year 2015 bringing Chinese New Year joy to the senior citizens of Eunos Crescent and Chai Chee on February 8th, ushering an early Chinese zodiac year of the ram for them.
There are seven families from Eunos Crescent and four from Chai Chee comprising of 15 elderly folks.
Each family received a goody bag and in addition each family member received an ang pow with cash of $50, distributed by a team of 13 Outreach volunteers of 11 adults and 2 children.
“This year we decide to focus on quality, hence you see we are giving chicken essence which is a luxury item not many can afford,” said Sister Ellen Song. Since some residents do not cook “I have bought items which don’t require cooking. They just need to add hot water to the cereals or nutritious beverages. Some CNY goodies like pineapple tarts, biscuits, cookies, mandarin oranges and sweets are also included,” she added.
Incidentally, Sister Ellen also sponsored the recyclable bags and mandarin oranges.
Chinese New Year falls on February 19th and 20th we brought joy to them in advance.
